Match Prediction & Analysis: RR vs KKR
The 2025 Indian Premier League has had an action-packed start and heading into the second set of fixtures; it will be the Rajasthan Royals who will take on the Kolkata Knight Riders in the sixth fixture. Both teams will be looking to redeem themselves after losing their respective opening matches, with Rajasthan losing heavily against the Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata falling short against the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Team Previews
Rajasthan Royals
Rajasthan Royals come under pressure after their bowlers were blown away for a record 286 runs that is 2nd highest in IPL history. The positives for captain Riyan Parag to take from the bowling unit is a solid counter-attack from the batters, but the squad still requires its them to fix their flaws and carry on.
Yashasvi Jaiswal will be looking to create early explosions at the top of the order with the returning explosive batter Sanju Samson. Riyan Parag, Nitish Rana, and the other middle-order batsman Dhruv Jurel, who showed promise in the last match, will need to contribute. Shimron Hetmyer and Shubham Dubey will be expected to score quick runs in the lower middle order.
The bowling lineup is something that can improve with Fazalhaq Farooqi and Maheesh Theekshana needing to make early breakthroughs. Jofra Archer has to return back after his bad showing, and Tushar Deshpande and Sandeep Sharma need to support him well.
Sanju Samson (wk), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag (c), Nitish Rana, Dhruv Jurel, Shimron Hetmyer, Shubham Dubey, Jofra Archer, Maheesh Theekshana, Tushar Deshpande, Sandeep Sharma.
Kolkata Knight Riders
After a loss to RCB in their first match, Rahane will be looking to exploit the gaps in Rajasthan’s line-up. The KKR batting unit has failed the target and even their bowlers had to be heavily depended upon but they too failed to restrict runs.
The inclusion of Quinton de Kock, who sat out the last game, in the top-of-the-order is likely to add to the potency of batter even as Sunil Narine carried his good form into the season’s opener. With Iyer, Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Rahane making up middle order, Rahane will need to ensure that he continues to bat solid. Fans are looking forward to the return of Rinku Singh and Andre Russell from their poor form.
It is a job cut out for the KKR bowling unit, which has some important spinners in its ranks and which failed to deliver in the previous match, comprising of the likes of Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy. While Vaibhav Arora and Spencer Johnson have been
decent, their new-ball bowling has yet to click in order for them both to get more wickets.
Predicted Playing XI
Quinton de Kock (wk), Sunil Narine, Ajinkya Rahane (c), Venkatesh Iyer, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Ramandeep Singh, Harshit Rana, Spencer Johnson, Vaibhav Arora.
Pitch Report & Weather Conditions
Two important things to note here: the venue has previously produced low-scoring games but conditions this time look better for the batters, and spinners are expected to get some assistance in the middle overs. The side that wins the toss could choose to bowl first and a score of approximately 170 is set to be a decent total to chase.
The weather is expected to be 29C with no rain forecast.
Dream11 Prediction, Top Player Picks
Riyan Parag (RR): 75 runs at 131.57 in 3 innings at Guwahati, though will need to be careful against the KKR spinners.
Dhruv Jurel (RR): Coming off a good performance last match, he is in great touch and is hitting the ball well.
Maheesh Theekshana (RR): Expected to bowl with the new ball, he will be aiming at KKR’s weak top-order to spin.
Venkatesh Iyer (KKR): Shivam Dube can be an anchor at the middle-order.
Harshit Rana (KKR): Looks fast, who can grab wickets and can bowl in good bowling conditions for Fast bowlers.
Captain & Vice Captain Options
Sanju Samson (RR): Best captaincy option with experience playing in Guwahati even though Narine is a difficult bowler to face.
Yashasvi Jaiswal (RR): Has a decent record against KKR bowlers; if given the opportunity, could score big.
Player to Avoid
Rinku Singh (KKR): His form has been patchy and his batting location will most likely be in the lower order making it a tough task to make his name.
Dream11 Prediction Summary
Rajasthan Royals have the home ground advantage but Kolkata Knight Riders have a more well-rounded squad. With RR’s bowling issues in their previous game, KKR are tipped to win this match.
